At our October 26th online meeting, EcoClam focused on advancing the research and planning phase for our upcoming Environmental Magazine, a key project that combines scientific awareness, creative design, and community education. This session centered on organizing endangered-species case studies, assigning roles for both writing and design, and establishing clear timelines to ensure smooth collaboration.
One of the core agenda items was the development of our endangered species feature section. Members reviewed potential species and finalized several case study topics, including the Beaver (known for its positive ecological impact through dam-building) and the Malayan Sun Bear (whose habitat range continues to shrink due to climate change). The team also discussed replacing the Panda entry with a marine endangered species, ensuring our magazine includes diverse ecosystems and broader environmental perspectives.
To structure the workflow, responsibilities were divided between the Writing Department and the Design Department. Writing members—Park Ji-hyun, Oh Seung-chan, Kwon Sei, Park Jun-hyuk, and Choi Yeon-jae—were each assigned their specific case studies and sections. Meanwhile, the design team—Choi Seung-ah, Kim Dan-i, and Choi Min-seo—began outlining the visual direction and layout concepts. The finalized magazine structure includes an Introduction, three species case studies, a results/resolution section, and a conclusion accompanied by an EcoClam group photo and acknowledgments.
The group also confirmed key deadlines:
Writing Department submissions are due on December 1, allowing adequate time for editing, formatting, and design integration.
Magazine content and layout work will continue into the next meeting on November 9 (Sunday).
This meeting highlighted EcoClam’s collaborative and mission-driven approach—balancing detailed planning, research, and creative production to deliver meaningful environmental education. As we continue preparing our magazine, the club remains committed to raising awareness about endangered species and inspiring our community toward active conservation.
