03/30/2025 - EcoClam Monthly Online Meeting

In our March 30th meeting, EcoClam finalized key plans for two major upcoming activities designed to engage the community and promote local environmental action.

The first project centers around a signature campaign planned for April 6 near Jeju National University during cherry blossom season. The goal is to collect at least 200 signatures in support of installing more clean houses—public waste sorting and recycling stations—along Jeju’s coastlines.
To increase outreach and encourage participation, students will distribute eco-bags as part of the campaign. If the event near the university becomes unfeasible due to crowd restrictions or weather, members will form small two-person teams and conduct the campaign near local government buildings to maximize visibility and participation. The campaign is expected to run for three to four hours and aims to raise awareness of the growing waste issue along Jeju’s coasts.

The second project focuses on our participation in Jeju’s Environmental Day celebrations, taking place in early June. For this event, EcoClam plans to run a booth where students and visitors can create plant pots using recycled plastic bottles. These materials will be sourced through hands-on collection efforts—either gathered directly from nearby recycling facilities or collected from the school cafeteria. Club members plan to contact school administrators to secure unused PET bottles for the activity.

To support both projects, the design team was assigned the task of finalizing and ordering eco-bags as soon as possible. Each design will be produced in a batch of 100 bags, to be used both as campaign incentives and to showcase our club’s commitment to reusable alternatives.
This meeting demonstrated EcoClam’s continued focus on local environmental impact through student-led action. By combining community engagement with practical sustainability projects, we aim to not only raise awareness but also offer tangible ways for others to get involved in protecting Jeju’s environment.
